Grok AI’s False XRP Claim Sparks Confusion Over Ripple Lawsuit

Elon Musk’s chatbot Grok AI caused a stir in the crypto world by falsely claiming that the SEC had dropped its lawsuit against Ripple. This unexpected statement sent the XRP community into a frenzy, with many interpreting it as a sign of imminent victory in the long-running legal battle.

However, former SEC lawyer Marc Fagel quickly stepped in, debunking the claim as entirely false. He clarified that no official dismissal had been filed by either party and warned investors not to trust AI chatbots for legal matters.
The lawsuit, which began in December 2020, has been one of the most influential cases in crypto regulation, with billions of dollars impacted. Fagel pointed the community to the official Court of Appeals docket for verified updates and firmly stated: “Grok doesn’t understand litigation at all.”

As of now, there is no confirmed resolution. While some hope for a voluntary dismissal before the August 15 status report deadline, Fagel stresses that any settlement remains speculative.
