The United Arab Emirates is pushing forward in digital finance by integrating cryptocurrency into travel and tourism. In July, Emirates Airlines signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Crypto.com to explore crypto payments for flights and services. Full integration is planned for 2026, enabling passengers to pay with Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Cronos (CRO), USDT, USDC, and over 30 supported cryptocurrencies.
Beyond Emirates, airlines like Air Arabia, Travala, Destinia, and Alternative Airlines are also accepting crypto, marking UAE’s commitment to becoming a global crypto hub.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates' Chief Commercial Officer, stated that this strategic move reflects the airline’s commitment to meeting evolving customer expectations, particularly the tech-savvy younger audience. It aligns with Dubai’s vision to lead in financial innovation and makes crypto a natural part of everyday transactions.
