U.S. Representative Jamie Raskin has formally demanded that President Donald Trump disclose the full list of attendees and funding sources for a private dinner tied to the purchase of $TRUMP memecoins.
According to Raskin, 220 individuals spent a total of $394 million to attend the event, raising serious concerns about potential violations of laws regarding foreign payments and political influence.
The event took place during the Bitcoin 2025 Conference in Las Vegas and included prominent figures such as JD Vance, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, the Winklevoss twins, and pardoned Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht — all actively promoting the administration’s pro-crypto agenda.
Among the most notable buyers was Chinese-born crypto investor Justin Sun, who reportedly spent $23 million. Sun is already under scrutiny by the SEC for prior dealings with Trump-linked crypto entities.
Raskin warned that some funds could come from foreign governments or illicit sources, posing risks to U.S. sovereignty. He set a deadline of June 4, 2025, for the Trump team to provide the necessary disclosures.
With growing concerns over crypto’s role in politics, the question remains: are people paying millions just for memecoins — or something much more?
