Fact Check: Did Donald Trump Blacklist XRP?

Rumors on social media suggest that former U.S. President Donald Trump may have blacklisted XRP. However, available facts and statements point to a different story.

On March 2, 2025, Trump posted a message supporting a “U.S. crypto strategic reserve” that would include XRP, Solana, and Cardano. Just a day later, the post was deleted. According to reports, Trump had been influenced by lobbyist Brian Ballard — someone allegedly tied to Ripple Labs. Upon learning of the connection, Trump reportedly cut ties with Ballard.

Still, there is no official confirmation that XRP has been blacklisted or banned. Analysts agree that Trump’s reaction seems more personal and political than regulatory.

It’s also worth noting that Ripple has previously donated to Trump-aligned political committees, and top executives have reportedly met with Trump in private settings.

Attorney Bill Morgan responded sarcastically on X: “The SEC reduced the fine from $125 million to $50 million and lifted the injunction. Yep, Trump must be furious.”

Conclusion:
There’s no evidence of an XRP ban or blacklist by Trump. While he may be displeased over perceived manipulation, this is not a policy position. The story highlights the influence of crypto lobbyists and how political optics can shape — or mislead — public discourse.
