Japanese-listed tech firm MetaPlanet has officially become the biggest corporate Bitcoin holder in Asia. The company has purchased 1,241 BTC for approximately ¥18.42 billion (about $118M), boosting its total reserves to 6,796 BTC.
Massive Investment and Impressive Timing
With an average cost of ¥14.84M per BTC, MetaPlanet now holds BTC valued over ¥90.19B. The firm’s timing is also proving successful, with Bitcoin recently crossing the $104,000 mark.
Outperforming MicroStrategy
While MicroStrategy has long been a leader in Bitcoin adoption, MetaPlanet has shown stronger short-term performance. It doubled its BTC returns in just three months — a feat that took MicroStrategy 19 months.
$25M Raise to Expand Bitcoin Holdings
To fuel its next phase of investment, MetaPlanet plans to raise $25M via bonds and equity rights offerings. The company’s rapid, high-risk Bitcoin acquisition model is attracting investor attention.
Stock Soars Over 13%
Investor enthusiasm is translating into strong stock performance. MetaPlanet’s shares jumped 13.32%, closing at ¥485, with intraday highs of ¥502. The company’s market cap now sits at ¥24.21B.
